5 years agoAfter sitting out the past four games, the New York Yankees have finally placed Brett Gardner on the injured list, retroactive to July 22nd. The veteran outfielder went on the 10-day IL with left knee inflammation. Gardner, 35, reportedly had a good workout Thursday prior to the series opener in Boston, but the club simply wanted an extra body on the roster. While reliever Stephen Tarpley was promoted in his absence, an extra outfielder could soon be on the way as the club continues to play Mike Tauchman in left field.--RDelgado
