Dwayne Haskins Splitting First-Team Reps With Keenum, McCoy
5 years agoWashington Redskins training camp opened today, and the "big" story line from Day 1 is that their trio of quarterbacks will split first-team reps at the outset. Per a Redskins.com report, head coach Jay Gruden emphasized the importance of giving them "ample opportunity to succeed and show that they're the starter." For rookie Dwayne Haskins in particular, this is encouraging. He will at least get the chance early on to outperform his veteran competition at the position under first-string circumstances. One would have to think that with Colt McCoy's long-standing role as a career backup, Haskins is already second in line behind Case Keenum. These early reps with the first team could earn Haskins a more serious look as the Week 1 starter if he pushes Keenum hard enough. Keep an eye on the situation as it develops over the next couple of weeks, as Haskins' fantasy value in redraft leagues would receive a bump if he were to get the Week 1 nod.
