No Structural Damage For Zack Wheeler
5 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler's (shoulder) MRI exam on Monday didn't show any structural damage, and he's just dealing with a shoulder impingement that he has dealt with in the past. Wheeler said he began feeling it halfway through his start against the Yankees and the entire outing against the Phillies. The right-hander isn't worried that the injury will keep him out for very long, and manager Mickey Callaway said the team didn't really notice anything wrong with his stuff in his last two starts. The Mets are hopeful that Wheeler will miss just one start, and he's eligible to return from the injured list on July 22. With Wheeler firmly on the trade block, the Mets are hoping he can re-establish his trade value before the deadline on July 31. He's been frustrating to own in fantasy with his 4.69 ERA, although he does have 130 strikeouts in 119 innings.
