ANALYSIS: The breakout year has continued for Baltimore Orioles corner infielder Renato Nunez. He has been on fire so far in July, slashing .314/.351/.657 with three home runs and seven RBI in nine games. On the year, Nunez has 21 home runs and 51 RBI, leading the Orioles in both categories.
Nunez has been making great hard contact all season. His barrel rate (13.6%), exit velocity (91.4) and hard-hit rate (46.7%) all support the power numbers he's put up this season. While home runs certainly aren't scarce around the league this year, Nunez is still one of the more promising power bat discoveries we've had this season. 35 home runs are very much in play for him, something that's extremely hard to find from a waiver add.
First base and third base are two of the deepest positions, so Nunez has a lot of competition for earning a spot in your lineup, but if you need an injury fill-in or if you need a starting option at an infield spot or utility spot in 12+ team leagues or AL-only leagues, Nunez is a fantastic add for you.
