BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 3% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: It's been an admittedly tough season for Tigers third baseman Jeimer Candelario. Coming off a disappointing second half in 2018, Candelario got off to an ice cold start in 2019, which resulted in him facing two separate stints in Triple-A Toledo.
He is doing his best to ensure that his most recent call-up is his last, as he has blasted four home runs with seven RBI since July 3, giving him six round-trippers and 16 RBI on the year - along with three steals.
Candelario will probably never hit for a high-average, but his 10.8% walk rate makes him valuable in deeper fantasy formats that count OBP instead of batting average. Plus, he looks locked in as the Tigers No. 5 hitter for the time being, and while it's not a great lineup it should afford him plenty of RBI opportunities, particularly if he keeps leaving the yard.
I'm cautiously optimistic about Candelario going forward, and think he's worth a look in 14+ team leagues and AL-only formats for the time being.
