Reds Call Up Josh VanMeter From Triple-A
5 years agoOn Thursday, the Cincinnati Reds called up shortstop Josh VanMeter as Amir Garrett (left lat strain) was placed on the Injured List. VanMeter appeared in 28 games for the Reds in May and June, but had a rough go of it, slashing .220/.347/.615 with zero home runs and just three RBI. However, VanMeter has had a phenomenal year at Triple-A, where he has hit .355 with 14 home runs, 41 RBI and an OPS of 1.121 across 44 games. Since he's more of an under-the-radar prospect, there's no rush to add him instantly, but keep an eye on him. If he starts hitting well and getting regular playing time, he could be a great add in NL-only leagues and 14+ team leagues.
