James Paxton's Quality Start Goes Wasted
5 years agoThe New York Mets and New York Yankees engaged in a pitcher's duel Tuesday night at Citi Field. For the road team, the starter was James Paxton, who arguably had his best start since returning from a knee injury in late May. The 30-year-old allowed just one run, which came off a solo home run in the sixth, his last inning. In his six innings of work, he allowed eight hits and a pair of walks, but worked well to limit damage. At the plate he even drove in a run with a sacrifice. Paxton struck out just three batters, but his bullpen blew the lead late as he emerged from the game with a no-decision.
