Jason Vargas Strikes Out 10 In No-Decision
5 years agoThe New York Mets' bullpen once again failed to preserve a late lead Wednesday as the club dropped a third consecutive game to the Philadelphia Phillies. New York's starter on the night, however, was not to blame. Jason Vargas went 6 1/3 inning, allowing just three hits and two runs. He struck out 10, firing 5 shutout innings to begin the game. It was in the seventh when he ran into trouble, eventually getting pulled after just 77 pitches. Vargas continues to be a reliable starter for the New York Mets, but once again it was the bullpen that failed for the struggling ball club.
