Draft Day Trade Brings P.K. Subban to New Jersey
5 years agoThe New Jersey Devils have acquired defenseman P.K. Subban from the Nashville Predators in exchange for Steven Santini, Jeremy Davies, and two second-round picks. One of those second-round picks was subsequently traded for a later second-round pick in this year's draft as well as a third-round pick. Subban is coming off of a down year where he missed 19 games and recorded the lowest point total (31) of his career. No longer in the logjam of blueliners in Nashville, Subban should be put in more situations to utilize his offensive talents. With more than 20 power-play points in four of the five years prior to last season, Subban was likely to bounce back from his career-low 10 power-play points already, but now in New Jersey, he has a clearer path to the top power-play unit. There may not be as much tread on the tires now that Subban is 30 years old, but a 50 point season is still within grasp.
