5 years agoThe Phoenix Suns have selected Cameron Johnson with the 11th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Suns were originally projected to pick a point guard at six overall, but felt the need to trade back after sending their pick to Minnesota for Dario Saric and the 11th pick. Phoenix went a separate route with the 11th pick, selecting the 6’9” guard out of North Carolina. Johnson was expected to slide in the draft due to his previous medical conditions and the fact he is already 23 coming out of school. Despite the concerns, Johnson is one of the purest shooters available in this year’s draft. Johnson shot an incredible 45.7 percent from three-point range on 5.8 attempts per game while also leading UNC to a top seed in the tournament. Johnson’s fit in Phoenix is yet to be determined with bonafide star Devin Booker already playing off-ball. However, it is possible they run more sets this year with Booker at point and Johnson as a spot-up shooter. Johnson’s fantasy outlook is shaping up to be a three-point specialist in category leagues.--Dale Johnson
