BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 8% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: The Rays are planning to activate utility infielder Joey Wendle from the injured list on Friday. Wendle has missed almost the entire season with a wrist injury, and was hitting just .136 with two RBI in eight games before going down.
However, Wendle was a very nice fantasy asset in 2018, slashing .300/.354/.435 with seven home runs and 16 stolen bases. That kind of production is valuable in 12+ team mixed leagues, especially with his multi-position eligibility.
Of course, Wendle benefited greatly from a .353 BABIP, and last year's .253 xBA indicated that he was exceptionally lucky to finish the year right at .300.
Wrist injuries tend to sap power, and if Wendle projects more as a .260 hitter, and with less power, suddenly his fantasy appeal is dimmed. However, he still has appeal in deeper fantasy formats, thanks in part to his speed and his flexibility around the diamond.
