5 years agoMiami Marlins outfielder Lewis Brinson is giving team management a reason to take notice. Since he was sent down, the 25-year-old former top-20 prospect has hit .277/.369/.454 with five home runs, 19 runs, 26 RBI and six stolen bases across 36 games with Triple-A New Orleans. This is a welcome sight after Brinson managed to hit only .197/.247/.263 in 27 games with the Marlins to open the season. “He had to get over the demotion and get his head in the right place to get back to work and take care of getting yourself back. That's what we're starting to see. A lot more hard-hit balls into the right center field gap. A lot of doubles, hard singles. That's what we're looking to get accomplished with him." Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill said. There is no definite timetable for his return to the majors, but if he keeps this up he'll be back sooner rather than later. Brinson could be an intriguing fantasy option if he can finally figure out major league pitching.--Joseph Magazzinich
