Mike Shawaryn Makes Strong First Impression
6 years agoBoston Red Sox pitcher Mike Shawaryn pitched two innings, allowing no hits, and striking out three in Saturday's game one of a doubleheader loss to Tampa Bay. He needed 36 pitches to get through his outing, but he stopped the bleeding left by starter Josh Smith's four-run second inning. Shawaryn made his MLB debut on Friday with a two inning, four strikeout performance. He went through the minors as a starter, making just one appearance as a reliever, so it's possible if he continue to perform well out of the pen, he may be given a spot start. For now, he's just a name to watch and doesn't warrant any fantasy consideration.
