Scott Oberg Records First Save
6 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Scott Oberg closed out Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 20-pitch ninth inning that included one walk, two strikeouts and no hits. It was his first save of the season after blowing his previous two attempts. Oberg fell into the closer role when the team's primary closer, Wade Davis (oblique), went on the 10-day injured list on May 22. It sounds as if Davis should be returning to the club sooner rather than later, so Oberg's role as closer may be short-lived. If you happen to need saves this weekend, Oberg could be a good target, but long term he doesn't appear to have much value.
