Geoff Hartlieb Pounded For Seven Runs And Seven Hits
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates reliever Geoff Hartlieb endured the worst outing of his young career on Tuesday, allowing seven runs (all earned) on seven hits in just 2 1/3 innings of work in the Pirates 11-6 loss to the Reds. He replaced starter Jordan Lyles, who left the game after four innings of work due to left hamstring discomfort, in the bottom of the fifth with the Pirates trailing 3-0. Five of the hits that Hartlieb surrendered were of the extra-base variety, which includes two home runs. It was the 25-year-old rookie's second straight poor performance and he has posted a 22.50 ERA and a 3.50 WHIP over his last four innings of work.
