Yonny Chirinos Throws No-Hitter Through Five Innings
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Yonny Chirinos got the start on Monday and didn’t allow a hit over five scoreless innings against the Blue Jays. He walked two and struck out seven in the start. This couldn’t be more frustrating for Chirinos owners as he had only thrown 69 pitches through five innings. Manager Kevin Cash had him on a pitch count, and with the Rays up four decided to go to the bullpen. He’s still a solid innings eater for fantasy teams posting an ERA of 2.91 this season. Chirinos is a solid start against most lineups, but usually won’t be a good candidate for quality starts. Next up should be a tough Twins lineup that would be a risky play. Sitting him for that one is recommended unless you’re chasing wins or strikeouts.
