Rick Porcello Solid After Rough First Inning
6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello lasted 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs, on five hits, while striking out five, and walking just one in Saturday's 9-5 win over Seattle. The Mariners tagged Porcello for all four runs, on four hits, in the first frame, but the 30-year-old was near perfect the rest of the way. He's now made it at least six innings and struck out five or more batters over his last four starts. However, a 14 HR/FB% is a number fantasy owners hope will see some positive regression in the near future. Overall, his performance has improved of late, but his vulnerability to the long ball makes his next start against the Astros less than ideal.
