BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 27% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Angels star prospect Griffin Canning made his big league debut on Tuesday, tossing 4.1 innings and giving up three earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six.
While that's not an outing that would make most people run to the waiver wire, Canning did earn 18 whiffs on the night - while also striking out five straight hitters between the second and third innings.
So Canning has strikeout potential, which is also evident from his mid-90's fastball and his hard slider that reached 89 miles per hour. He also sports a big heavy curveball, a pitch mix that should allow him to thrive in the big leagues.
He's a rookie who may have his ups and downs, but in a Los Angeles rotation that needs healthy arms I think Canning could be here to stay. His next outing is against a hapless Tigers team, and he should be streamed in all formats for that contest. In 12+ team leagues, you might as well hold onto him even after that start.
