BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 5% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Tellez has now played 24 games this season, just one more than he played last season when he caught a lot of people's attention as a hot-hitting September call-up.
The immediate numbers don't look great. Tellez hit .314/.329/.614 in 23 games last year, but is hitting just .233/.305/.479 this year in nearly the same number of at-bats.
However, Tellez has more than doubled his walk rate so far this season. While his strikeout numbers are still way too high, it is encouraging to see his plate discipline numbers improving in at least one regard.
Plus, the power is still very real. He's blasted five home runs with 16 RBI on the young season, and his RBI total seems likely to climb now that Vladito is in the mix.
Tellez strikes me as a cheap source of 20-25 home runs, 80ish RBI and a meh batting average. The increased walk rate makes him appealing in OBP leagues as well. I'm not looking at him unless it's 14-teams or deeper, but he's not the worst bench option even in 12-teamers.
