BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 1% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: The Angels have struggled with a combination of injuries and ineffectiveness around their infield so far in 2019. Enter top prospect Luis Rengifo, who was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake earlier in the week. Rengifo hasn't gotten off to the speediest start through his first 16 plate appearances, slashing just .231/.313/.308 with a double, an RBI and one run scored.
Had this call-up happened late in 2018, people might have gotten very excited. See at that time Rengifo was in the midst of a campaign that saw him hit eight home runs and swipe 41 bases across three levels, where he hit exceptionally well at each.
But a slow start in Triple-A this year (.240/.284/.387 with two home runs and two steals) has dimmed his prospect status even after he reached the big leagues - as he's only owned in 1% of Yahoo! leagues.
Still, Rengifo offers tantalizing speed and a hefty amount of plate discipline. He'll be competing for at-bats against David Fletcher and the red-hot Tommy La Stella while Zack Cozart is on the injured list. His stay in the big leagues is probably only short-term, but in deeper leagues he's worth adding to the roster to try to get a few steals before he's back in Triple-A.
