Trevor Story Smashes 459-Foot Home Run
6 years agoColorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story had struck out twice on foul tipped pitches before he finally caught up with one in the sixth inning on Friday night. Phillies starter Vince Velasquez missed his spot and left a 96 MPH 0-2 fastball on the inner half of the plate, and Story hammered it over the seats in left field. Story's been a mix of his last two seasons so far, racking up five home runs and four stolen bases while only hitting .256, a far cry below his .291 from last year but better than the .239 he put up in 2017. That said, he's keeping his strikeout rate down around 26%, in line with last year's 25% number, so his batting average is likely going to climb from here. Expect another MVP-competitive year from Story.
