J.D. Martinez Hits First Homer Since April 4
6 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder J.D. Martinez's only hit in a 5-3 loss to the Yankees on Wednesday was his fourth home run of the season. The homer extended his hitting streak to eight games. More impressively, he has hit safely in 18 of 19 games this season. He hasn't gotten much help around him, though, as the Red Sox are 6-13 with a team average of just .229. Batting .352 himself, Martinez will continue to be the catalyst for Boston, whether he is the designated hitter or playing left field. The team will regroup before opening a weekend road series with one of the hottest teams in baseball, the Tampa Bay Rays.
