Brett Gardner's Grand Slam Propels Yankees
6 years agoThe New York Yankees swept their two-game set with the Boston Red Sox following a dramatic blast Wednesday night in the Bronx. It came off the bat of outfielder Brett Gardner, one of the last remaining regulars, as the club is decimated by injuries. The veteran stepped up in the seventh inning with the bases loaded and the Yankees down by two. He drilled a grand slam, putting his club ahead 5-3, which was ultimately the final score. The slam was easily Gardner's biggest hit of the year, increasing his season average to .203 while he now has four home runs and eight RBI.
