Jon Gray Strong Again In First Win
6 years agoFor the second outing in a row, Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray looked to be in complete control. In an eerily similar line to last week, Gray went seven innings and allowed one run on three hits while walking three and striking out five. The walks are still concerning and the strikeout total has dipped a bit, as Gray has only racked up 15 strikeouts in his last 19 2/3 innings, but progress is progress. Gray has shown that he'll continue to miss in terrible spots as he did when he left one up against Wil Myers that Myers promptly parked, and that tendency has won Gray the ignominious all-time National League record of having surrendered a home run in 16 straight starts. That tendency is extra concerning for someone who plays half his games in Denver, and that should be on owners' minds when he hosts the Nationals at Coors this weekend.
