Charles Howell III Has Struggled At The RBC Heritage
6 years agoCharles Howell III kept his solid start to 2019 going at last week’s Masters, finishing the event T32. Howell has now finished inside the top 35 in all 10 stroke-play events he has played in so far this year. The American will now look to keep that run going at this week’s RBC Heritage. Howell has a disappointing record at the event, finishing inside the top 25 on just one occasion over the last seven years.

Charles Howell III A Good Sleeper Option At Valero
3 years agoCharles Howell III returns to The Valero Texas Open, where he has two missed cuts and a top-10 finish. Howell has not a had strong start to 2022. His best finish was at The American Express, where he finished in 25th place. However, in his last start, Howell gained an almost four-year high of 4.3 strokes on approach at The Arnold Palmer Invitational. He also gained 5.9 stokes from tee-to-green that week. The 42-year-old likely doesn't have much win equity, but at low ownership and with a low price tag, he could provide value this week.

Charles Howell III Looking For Solace At Arnold Palmer
3 years agoCharles Howell III has probably had two of the worst weeks he could ever ask for from a golf perspective. It is not just that he missed the cut, it is how. Howell III had an awful round that sealed his fate where he could not make putts. Then, erratic stroke play created even more missed shots. He ranks 175th in approaching the green at -0.339 strokes lost. That has been the big problem the past two weeks where Howell III has ranked near the dead bottom among golfers at The Honda Classic in particular. Charles Howell III simply must hit more greens in regulation when it counts.

Charles Howell III A Question Mark At Honda Classic
3 years agoMaybe there are too many expectations on Charles Howell III. He missed the cut at the WM Phoenix Open as that opening round 75 did him no favors. Howell III did not play poorly at the American Express or the Sony Open. At the American Express, not enough putts dropped for him on the back nine to truly contend. While he is fifth around the green with almost 0.55 strokes gained, Howell III's putting is -0.019 strokes gained (119th). He gets the ball on the green well but his tee shots are a bit more erratic than they should. The American golfer will have to be more accurate off the tee on the Jack Nicklaus course in Florida.

Charles Howell III Carries Upside To Waste Management
3 years agoCharles Howell III may not be on the top page of the leaderboard but he may come close this weekend at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Howell III followed up a 36th with a top-25 result at the American Express a few weeks ago. He kept it together even with a final round 71 that knocked him out of the top-20. The concerns are obviously with Howell III. He is good off the tee which average approaches and okay putting. Some quip that he is an average golfer that gets above-average results somehow. What Howell III does better than most is that he does not give up. His resiliency gets him some top finishes.
