Jon Gray Takes Hard-Luck Loss Against Giants
6 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray tossed a great game on Thursday, but he still ended up saddled with the loss when it was said and done. Gray went 6 2/3 innings and allowed just one earned run, but his offense was shut out by SF's pitching on the other side. The performance was easily Gray's best of the season, and he struck out six while allowing just five hits. If it wasn't for a solo shot by Kevin Pillar, the newest Giant, Gray might have escaped the day unscathed. Gray should get an interesting test next week as the Rockies head to San Diego. The park is friendly, but the opposing lineup is surprisingly potent as the Padres sit in first place in the NL West for the time being. For now, only bold owners should start him until he's a bit more proven this season.
