Jorge Lopez Has Quality Start Spoiled
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Jorge Lopez did everything he could to break the team's losing streak, but in the end, Seattle came back against the Royals bullpen and handed the team their 10th straight loss. A nasty streak of two hitters in a row to lead off the sixth inning ended Lopez's bid for a shutout, as Dee Gordon's lazy fly ball to right floated just enough into the wind and snuck over the wall and Mallex Smith followed it up with a triple that would eventually lead to a second run. This makes two straight quality starts from Lopez, but his depressed strikeout rate and BABIP imply that some correction is coming. He should only be a target in deep leagues for now.
