Jay Bruce Bruises Seventh Dinger Of Season
6 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder/first baseman Jay Bruce continues to clobber the baseball so far in 2019. He popped his seventh long ball of the year, this time to the opposite field, and added an RBI groundout as he finished the game 1-for-5. Bruce only has nine hits on the year and is batting a lowly .188, but the home runs and 13 RBI are certainly worth the average drain at this point. Bruce may only end up hitting in the low-.200s with this power-driven approach, but a return to a 30/90 season doesn't appear to be an unreasonable goal for the veteran. He'll look to keep his pop going in two more games against the Royals before a three-game set over the weekend in Houston.
