ANALYSIS: Polanco extended his season-opening hit streak to five games in the most dramatic of fashions on Friday, going 5-for-5 and hitting for the first cycle of the season. He has opened up the 2019 campaign with a tidy .286/.375/.476 slash line. He's been hitting second in the lineup, ahead of solid run producers in Nelson Cruz and Eddie Rosario.
Polanco's 2018 season was disrupted by an 80-game suspension, but he came back with a very nice .288/.345/.427 slash, six home runs and seven stolen bases.
The former top-100 prospect is projected to post roughly 15-15 this season, with a tidy .270 average. Friday's showing proves that the man has plenty of power, as he hit two doubles, a triple and a home run. While he hasn't swiped a base yet this season, they will be coming soon.
If Polanco is still sitting on your waiver wire, which for about 80% of you, he is, I would suggest snatching him up for one of your waiver wire spots as soon as possible.
