Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk will get the day off on Tuesday night when his team faces Andrew Cashner and the Baltimore Orioles. Grichuk picked up his first two hits of the season on Monday night, including a two-run home run. In his absence, Anthony Alford will make his 2019 debut and bat seventh. Alford is the team's 11th best prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but he has not had success at the major-league level to date. He is a speculative add for deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats, with legitimate stolen base upside. The Jays have intriguing DFS potential on Tuesday going up against the middling Cashner.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Randal Grichuk (hamstring) was scratched on Saturday due to glute soreness. As a result, A.J. Vukovich replaced his spot in the lineup. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status in case this injury begins to linger throughout camp. Earlier in the offseason, the Diamondbacks re-signed Grichuk to a one-year deal with $5 million. Last season, the 33-year-old operated primarily on the short-side of a platoon, seeing starts in the outfield and at DH. Across 108 contests, the 33-year-old posted a .391/.348/.528 slash line with 12 home runs. He generated an impressive .359 xwOBA with a strong 16.5 percent strikeout rate. When healthy, fantasy managers should expect Grichuk to operate in a similar role. Given his limited playing time, he will only carry value in deeper formats.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

According to Anne Rogers of MLB.com, the Kansas City Royals had interest in outfielder Randal Grichuk before he signed a contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier on Tuesday. Grichuk signed a one-year deal worth $5 million with the Snakes. Given that the Royals showed interest in Grichuk, they may continue to look for another option to improve their outfield. Currently, Hunter Renfroe is slated to be the everyday right fielder. Last season, Renfroe posted a poor .229/.297/.392 slash line with 18 doubles, 15 home runs, and one stolen base. Under the hood, he generated a poor .223 xBA and a .291 xwOBA, both within the 18th percentile among qualified hitters. However, he is an excellent defender, which may keep him in the starting nine. MJ Melendez and Kyle Isbel are slated to cover left and center field respectively. Fantasy managers should expect Grichuk to continue to operate on the short side of a platoon in the desert.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal on Tuesday to re-sign veteran outfielder Randal Grichuk, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. With incentives, Grichuk can make a total of $5.5 million in 2025. Although he wasn't a regular in Arizona in 2024, Grichuk excelled in a part-time role in the desert and slashed an impressive .291/.348/.528 with an .875 OPS, 12 home runs, 46 RBI and 40 runs scored in 279 trips to the plate over 106 games played. He hit .319 (52-for-163) with six of his 12 home runs against left-handers while batting only .242 (22-for-91) against right-handers last year. Expect Grichuk to once again operate on the short side of a platoon in Arizona's outfield and as a designated hitter in 2025, which will limit his overall fantasy appeal as a reserve outfielder in deep-mixed leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The San Francisco Giants recently held talks with free-agent outfielder Randal Grichuk's representatives, according to a source. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand also recently mentioned that the Pittsburgh Pirates are another team interested in signing Grichuk, who is coming off a strong season in which he hit .291/.348/.528 with an .875 OPS, 12 home runs, 46 RBI and 40 runs scored in 279 trips to the plate over 106 games with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 33-year-old veteran is no longer an everyday player at this stage of his career, but he proved in 2024 that he can be a valuable platoon option in the outfield against left-handed pitching. He landed on the open market when he declined his $6 million mutual option for 2025. Grichuk held an impressive .914 OPS against southpaws last year and has an .833 career OPS against lefties.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
