BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 19% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Pre-season injuries to C.C. Sabathia and Luis Severino thrust young right-hander Domingo German back into a rotation spot, where he will slot in at No. 4 and start Monday's game. German posted some intriguing numbers last season, despite his 5.57 ERA and 1.33 WHIP.
For starters, his 3.68 SIERA is much more palatable, and his 27.2% k rate will catch anyone's attention. He made 21 appearances, 14 which were starts. While his numbers as a reliever were better, he still managed a 26.2% k rate and a 4.12 xFIP out of the rotation - which is passable.
German has elite strikeout potential, which alone makes him worth a look as a streamer or in deep leagues. If he can learn to command the strike zone a little better, and gets a little more help from his bullpen (his 60.9% left on base rate last year was well below the league average) we could be looking at a consistent fantasy starting pitcher.
He's volatile, but German is not a bad option as your last starter in 12+ team leagues - at least while he's in the rotation.
