The King's Keeper Corner - Mailbag and Stock Report

To have your dynasty and keeper questions answered in the Keeper Korner, simply follow me on Twitter @scotteTheKing and contact me to be considered for publication and responses.

I look forward to seeing your posts and questions soon. I also have included the first part of my offseason dynasty/keeper stock report here.

The NFL Draft is still ahead, yet we do consider who has been boosted in dynasty/keeper formats recently.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2024:

The Keeper Korner Mailbag

Engel’s Angle: This is a pretty easy one for me considering I always keep a close eye on what a top front office like Pittsburgh does. The Steelers have been consistent contenders for a long time in a league where so many other franchises deal with more dramatic ups and downs over time, and that is because of strong management. Yes, the Steelers did not make the playoffs last year, but they were not out of the mix either, and that may be about the lowest level they will drop. I say they were visionaries to draft James Conner, planning ahead for a possible eventual departure of Le’Veon Bell.

When they unloaded Antonio Brown, they simply were not comfortable yet with moving Washington up to a starting spot, as he showed in his rookie season he was not even a dependable third WR on their team yet. So they added Moncrief, who has been plagued either by bad QB play or untimely injuries so far in his career and deserves to show what he can do in a top offense. He did catch 13 TD passes in 2016-17 and was hurt just when he started to build momentum, and then Andrew Luck was injured and Moncrief went to Jacksonville. It’s easily Moncrief here as he will get a chance in a very potent offense to be a clear starter right away and at minimum will have fantasy WR3 status this year. Washington has more big-play promise but a lot more to prove.

Engel’s Angle: On straight value alone, it’s Diggs for sure, but the disparity between rounds is so great that you have to actually consider Carson here. But the fact that he will share carries with Rashaad Penny next season, plus his physical style frequently leads to injuries, ultimately puts him out of the picture here. Diggs showed what he was capable of last year if he mostly avoided injuries, and carries value as a high-end WR2 right now. To only lose a sixth rounder for a wideout of that caliber is still a terrific deal by itself.

Stock Up in Dynasty and Keeper Leagues

Ito Smith: He will at least take over the Tevin Coleman role, and could start if Devonta Freeman continues to battle injury problems.

John Brown: Josh Allen is not afraid to throw downfield, so Brown could at least be a viable streamer this season.

Mike Davis: Will get his chance to be a featured runner, and should carry some strong flex appeal.

Michael Gallup: The Cowboys only acquired Randall Cobb to bolster the WR corps, and he’s a shaky option. Dallas may believe Gallup is ready to step forward as a starter and can have Cobb as more of a luxury as their third WR if he stays healthy.

D’Onta Foreman: Unless the Texans draft a RB early on, the fact that they were not aggressive in free agency at RB signals they still believe in the potential of Foreman.

Devin Funchess: He becomes the ideal big target at WR that the Colts needed across from T.Y. Hilton. At worst, he will be a third fantasy wideout in 2019.

Mike Williams: The departure of Tyrell Williams means he could be on the verge of his big breakthrough campaign and has to be considered as a strong keeper. I would retain him as a possible third keeper or with a fourth-round tag attached to him.

James White: His value should stay elevated in PPR formats because the Patriots did not improve the passing crew outside Julian Edelman and any rookie they would bring in would be challenged to make a significant impact. White should still play a large role in the New England passing game.

Sam Darnold: The Jets are fully committed to building a quality supporting cast around him. The future has gotten brighter quickly for his dynasty league owners.

Chris Warren III: He has looked promising in past exhibition play. He may only have Isiah Crowell ahead of him for quality carries if Marshawn Lynch does not return. If the Raiders don’t draft a possible impact RB Warren could have some deep sleeper potential.

Rashaad Penny: The departure of Davis puts him firmly in time-share mode with Carson. If there is an injury to Carson, which we have seen before, Penny becomes the unquestioned starter.

Ronald Jones: The Buccaneers did not bring in anyone to improve the RB position. Peyton Barber cannot hold him off forever, and Jones could benefit from a fresh outlook in a new regime.
