Trevor Story Bashes First Home Run
6 years agoColorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story ripped a home run in the fifth inning of the Opening Day game against Miami to put the team up by five. The Rockies would eventually finish off the Marlins, and Story's home run was his third career one to come on Opening Day. This ties him for the franchise record in that category, along with four other historical Rockies (including current teammate Nolan Arenado). Story tends to be an all-or-nothing guy early in the season, as he's hit more career home runs in April than any other month but also has a career batting average of just .219 in April, 39 points below his next worst month. Story's converted to a more contact-heavy approach over the last year, so this will be a good test for his mindset.
