Trevor Story Continues To Show Patience
6 years agoColorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story finally seemed to catch up to major league pitching last year, at least when it came to making contact. Story's prodigious power had been held back in previous years by his strikeout rate that hovered around 33%, but in 2018, he was able to drop that rate down to 25%. It made a huge difference for the 25-year-old as he set new career highs in doubles, triples, home runs, and batting average. He also ended up stealing way more bases than ever before. This season, Story seems to be showing continued commitment to his new contact-heavy approach. While his four home runs were nice in the warm-up session, his 12 strikeouts in 46 at-bats were even nicer to see. If Story can continue to stay patient and focus on making contact, he should stand a good chance at repeating his 30/20 campaign.
