Mark Reynolds Makes Rockies Roster
6 years agoThe Colorado Rockies have informed Mark Reynolds that he has made the Opening Day roster for the major league squad. The 35-year-old was a surprising keep for the team since their high minor leagues are overflowing with top-rated prospects, but they have shown a tendency to stick with veterans over giving their younger players more time. Reynolds batted .248 with 13 home runs in 206 at-bats last season with the Nationals, but he hit 30 home runs and batted .267 with the Rockies two years ago. Reynolds is expected to serve as a bat off the bench this season with an occasional start against lefties due to match-ups and to let starting first baseman Daniel Murphy get some rest.
