Collin McHugh Hopes To Put Awful Spring Behind Him
6 years agoFor Houston Astros starter Collin McHugh, Opening Day cannot come soon enough. The 31-year-old will return to the Astros rotation in 2019 after pitching out of the bullpen last season. McHugh won 43 games from 2014-16 but an elbow injury briefly derailed a promising career. Now with teammate Lance McCullers Jr. out for the season, McHugh will be thrust back into the rotation and the results this spring have not been pretty. In three exhibition starts, McHugh's ERA is a frightening 15.88. It is important not to take spring numbers too literally but the Astros have to be concerned with their veteran starter heading into the season. McHugh pitches for a team with a fantastic offense behind him so there is plenty of time to replenish his fantasy value. But, for now, McHugh should not be drafted in any fantasy format to begin the season.
