Frank Schwindel Shows Off In Spring Finale
6 years agoKansas City Royals first baseman/catcher Frank Schwindel finally got the chance to show some of his versatility on Sunday as he caught two innings in the team's spring training finale. Schwindel was a catcher throughout college, but he hasn't caught in the minors in years. He looked solid in his debut though, even throwing out a runner. With the team having lost star catcher Salvador Perez for the season and Schwindel battling to find a way on to the roster, perhaps this little additional feature will be enough to earn him a spot. Schwindel hit 24 bombs and .286 in 510 at-bats at Triple-A Omaha last year, and he could be a serious power threat if he can find his way into regular playing time.
