Jeff McNeil Looks Set For Third Base
6 years agoAfter bursting onto the scene in 2018, New York Mets utility man Jeff McNeil has settled at third base due to injuries and appears set to be the starter for Opening Day. The 26-year-old began taking reps at third earlier this month and is poised to start there in the absence of both Todd Frazier and Jed Lowrie. After driving in four runs on Sunday, McNeil is hitting .327 in 17 games this past month. Last season, McNeil hit .329 with 19 RBI in a 63-game stint with the big league club, raising expectations for his potential coming into the new season. When Frazier and Lowrie return from injuries, McNeil will probably move all around the field, as he also plays first base and outfield.
