Homer Bailey Likely To Make Royals Rotation
6 years agoKansas City Royals pitcher Homer Bailey looks like he's going to be the team's No. 4 starting pitcher to open the season. Bailey will likely held back for extended spring training since the team has no need for a fourth starter in the first week due to having three scheduled off days, but manager Ned Yost implied that Bailey is expected to join the team after that. With Heath Fillmyer officially optioned to the minors on Saturday, that pretty much guarantees that Bailey will be in for a turn early in the season. Bailey has been mediocre this spring, but that's actually been an improvement over his last three regular seasons, when he's yet to post an ERA under 6.00. Bailey was once a prized prospect and will thus continue to get opportunities even though he's 32 years old at this point, but fantasy owners should be slow to believe there's anything there.
