Joe Musgrove Set to Make Spring Debut on Friday
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove (abdomen) is set to pitch in his first Grapefruit League game of the spring on Friday night against the Tampa Bay Rays. The right-hander threw three innings in a simulated game last Saturday but this will be his first live game action. Slated to be the Pirates number four starter in 2019, Musgrove will look to stay healthy and contribute more than 115 innings, which was a career-high in 2018. If he can maintain his 11.4 SwStr% and just 4.7 BB% from last season, while also keeping the ball in the yard, the 26-year-old could be a sneaky sleeper option in deeper mixed leagues and NL-only formats.
