Jacob Markstrom Withstands Barrage From Flames to Earn Win
6 years ago
Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom turned away 44 of the 47 shots he faced, including all nine on the power play, during Saturday's win over Calgary. It was a busy night for Markstrom who saw more than 40 shots for only the second time this season but has had the fourth most shots against in the league this season. Markstrom has proven himself to be a valuable fantasy commodity posting a .910 save percentage and earning 21 wins, which is very similar to the output from last year's breakout netminder Connor Hellebuyck, who has the same save percentage but three more wins this season. The fact that Hellebuyck is owned in 99 percent of Yahoo! leagues while Markstrom is owned in only 66 percent of leagues shows that the Markstrom may still be a bit undervalued even considering the low cost it would have taken to acquire him at the start of this season.
