Mikko Koskinen Back in Net for Edmonton on Sunday
6 years agoEdmonton Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen will get the start on Sunday as the Oilers travel to east take on the Canadiens. Koskinen is looking to rebound after taking the loss and allowing at least three goals in each of his last three starts. While Koskinen has had a steady overall season, posting a .910 save percentage, he has struggled on the road managing only a .891 save percentage. He did win his only other start against Montreal this season, however, allowing only two goals on 29 shots back in November. With a limited slate of games this Sunday there are not many other options, but playing against a Montreal team that is in the top five for shots generated per game (33.1 shots per game) leaves Koskinen in a less than ideal situation.

Mikko Koskinen Faces Washington Wednesday Night
3 years agoEdmonton Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen will take on the Washington Capitals in his 31st start of the season Wednesday night. The Finnish veteran will try to bounce back after having taken two consecutive losses against Chicago and Calgary. Koskinen has seen his record drop to 19-9-3, and he enters Wednesday's matchup with a 3.05 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. Edmonton is leaking goals all over the place and will face a Capitals team that has a history-chasing Alex Ovechkin in its ranks, so fantasy managers shouldn't have too high hopes for Koskinen on Wednesday.

Mikko Koskinen Starts For Oilers Monday Night
3 years agoEdmonton Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen will guard the cage in Monday's road game against Calgary. He'll be back between the pipes after sitting out one game. Mike Smith took a 5-2 loss against Montreal on Saturday and is unavailable for Monday night because of a stomach bug. Koskinen lost his last start as well and will look to avoid back-to-back defeats for the first time since January. The Finnish netminder will enter Monday's action with a 19-8-3 record, and he boasts a 3.05 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. The Flames are heavy favorites for the win, but eight of the last 11 Battle of Albertas have ended in Edmonton victories, including both this season. Let's see if Koskinen can keep the run going.

Mikko Koskinen Records First Shutout Since 2019
3 years agoEdmonton Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen stopped 39 pucks in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Philadelphia to pick up his first shutout since November 2019. The Finnish netminder was busy right from the off when the Flyers sent 13 shots his way in the opening frame, but he stood tall and the Oilers eventually skated away with a victory after scoring in each period. Leon Draisaitl opened the scoring with a power-play marker, Kailer Yamamoto returned to the lineup with his 11th goal of the season and Connor McDavid wrapped things up with an empty-netter. Koskinen improved to 19-8-2 for the year, and he now boasts a 3.02 goals-against average with a .905 save percentage. Edmonton's goalie situation has been a mess all season, but Koskinen has given them some stability by winning all of his last four starts.

Mikko Koskinen Starts Saturday On Long Island
3 years agoEdmonton Oilers goalie Mikko Koskinen will start the back end of the back-to-back Saturday against the New York Islanders. It appeared that Mike Smith got injured yesterday late in the matinee versus New Jersey. Koskinen will try to stop the bleeding as Edmonton keeps allowing goals in bunches. The Edmonton goalie recently lost four consecutive starts at home while yielding 17 goals. It comes down to just making that extra save here and there. Honestly, until an Oilers' goaltender can do that, Edmonton will continue having issues whether it is Koskinen or someone else.
