Two More Points On The Pile For Sean Monahan
6 years agoCalgary Flames center Sean Monahan scored a goal and an assist, both on the power play, Saturday night as the Flames defeated the Oilers. Monahan now has points in each of his last five games, which has added to his impressive 61 points in 50 games this season. Tied for eighth in the league in goals and points, Monahan is on pace to shatter his career-high mark of 64 points. He is benefitting from the highest shooting percentage of his career (17.2 percent), but it is not significantly above his career average of 15.2 percent, so if regression is coming it should not hit Monahan too hard. He is an elite option that should be rostered in all formats, even though he is puzzlingly available in eight percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Sean Monahan Rejoins Blue Jackets Lineup Monday
1 week agoColumbus Blue Jackets center Sean Monahan (wrist) has been activated from Injured Reserve and is expected to return to the lineup on Monday against the New York Islanders. Due to a wrist injury, Monahan has missed 28 games, but he is finally healthy again and should give the slumping Blue Jackets a nice boost. Adam Fantilli will give his first-line center job to Monahan, and the veteran centerman is also poised to operate on the first power play unit. Monahan has bagged 41 points (14 goals, 27 assists) in as many games this season with 100 shots on goal. The Blue Jackets will also welcome back defenseman Erik Gudbranson (shoulder), who is ready to make his first appearance since Oct. 15.

Sean Monahan May Return To Action This Week
2 weeks agoColumbus Blue Jackets center Sean Monahan (wrist) is close to returning to action, possibly as soon as this week. He participated in practice with the main group on Wednesday, and Blue Jackets head coach Dean Evason has not ruled out Monahan rejoining the lineup before the week ends. After the practice session, Monahan said that he "felt great." A wrist injury has kept the veteran centerman out since Jan. 7. Monahan has been a point-per-game player for Columbus this season, tallying 14 goals and 27 assists in 41 games. The Blue Jackets will be back in action on Thursday night against the Florida Panthers and will wrap up this week's schedule on Friday with a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Sean Monahan Not Expected To Return Until March
2 months agoAccording to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic, Columbus Blue Jackets center Sean Monahan (wrist) is expected to be sidelined until mid-March after facing a setback. Monahan suffered this injury during their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins in January. He was placed on the injured reserve shortly after but now is in danger of missing more time as he was originally expected to return in February. Before the injury, Monahan tallied 41 points (14 goals, 27 helpers) across 41 contests with a +17 rating. While he continues to be sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Adam Fantilli to remain in the top center role. In his absence, the former first-round selection has begun to break out at the NHL level, as he has tallied 13 points over his previous 12.
