T.J. Brodie Keeps Heating Up, Scores Three Points Against Red Wings
6 years agoCalgary Flames defenseman T.J. Brodie logged two power-play assists on Friday in addition to an empty net goal to seal Friday night's victory. It was Brodie's first three-point night of the season but his third multi-point game in his last five games. Brodie has only 23 points in 49 games, but he has nine points since the start of 2019 and has made his case as a decent streaming option while he rides this hot streak. Brodie is on Calgary's second power-play unit and has seen his shot rate dip to 1.32 shots per game, so his long term value is questionable, but in the short term, he could be worth an add if you are looking for help on the blueline.

T.J. Brodie A Healthy Scratch Wednesday
1 year agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman T.J. Brodie will serve as a healthy scratch for Wednesday's road game versus the Washington Capitals. Blueliner Conor Timmins will enter the lineup in his place. Brodie skated 21:28 in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. The veteran's play has taken a notable dip in the 2023-24 season, as have his underlying numbers. He hasn't scored a goal in his last 99 games, has recorded 18 helpers, and picked up 139 blocked shots across 66 games this season. The Maple Leafs enter Wednesday's tilt sitting third in the Atlantic Division with a 38-20-9 record on the season.

T.J. Brodie Returns For Toronto Thursday
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman T.J. Brodie (oblique) will be back in action Thursday against Los Angeles. He returns after sitting out 12 games with an oblique strain. Before going down with the injury, Brodie was able to contribute with two assists in 15 games, while also registering 17 hits and 20 blocks. Brodie is a skillful player, but he rejoins the lineup as a third-pairing defenseman, so it's safe to leave him on the waiver wire.

T.J. Brodie Set To Miss Two Weeks
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman T.J. Brodie will miss at least two weeks with an oblique injury. He was a late scratch for Saturday's matchup against Vancouver and now won't be available for a minimum of seven games. The team has placed him on Injured Reserve. According to general manager Kyle Dubas, the 32-year-old is dealing with a similar oblique injury that saw Toronto captain John Tavares miss a couple of weeks after getting injured in a preseason game. In Brodie, the team loses a big defensive presence, with him having registered 20 blocks and 17 hits in 15 outings this season. Offensively, he's been able to log two assists. Jordie Benn replaced Brodie on the first defensive pairing at the weekend and ended up celebrating his team debut with a goal. He is set to resume in the role for the time being. However, fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to get on the score sheet regularly, as the veteran has managed only 136 points in 596 career appearances.
