San Jose Sharks left wing Evander Kane reached 200 career goals with a two-goal effort on Saturday, helping the team beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2. Brent Burns had three assists in the game, while both Erik Karlsson and Timo Meier dished out two helpers. Nikita Kucherov was a minus-four and saw his 12-game point streak end. Kane has been mostly underwhelming this season after hugely impressing as a Shark at the end of 2017-18. He has 14 goals and 29 points in 43 games. 11 of the points have come since Dec. 16, so Kane has finally picked up some momentum and he could have a big second half of the season thanks to that.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Edmonton Oilers left wing Evander Kane (knee) could make his season debut on Wednesday night in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Kings. The veteran forward is recovering from several surgeries, including an arthroscopic knee procedure performed on Jan. 9. "Kane is a possibility of coming back, whether that's for Game 2, Game 3 or Game 4. But it should be soon," Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said on Tuesday. Kane made his last appearances during the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers. Speaking on his condition, Knoblauch said that Kane currently looks better than he did against Florida, which is an encouraging sign for the Oilers. However, the 33-year-old is bound to have some rust once he returns. Kane has notched 26 goals and 43 points in 73 career postseason appearances.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Edmonton Oilers left wing Evander Kane (knee) is on the cusp of returning to the lineup. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said that Kane is close to being cleared to return from a knee surgery that sidelined him for the regular season. The Oilers are set to begin their postseason campaign on Monday against the Los Angeles Kings. Kane's return would improve the team in several areas. He was tied for the most goals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs a couple of years back and has recorded 43 points (26 goals, 17 assists) in 76 career postseason appearances.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Edmonton Oilers left wing Evander Kane (abdomen, knee) will be out for the remainder of the regular season, the team announced Friday. The power forward has yet to play in 2024-25 after undergoing several surgical procedures following the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals. Most recently, he had knee surgery on Jan. 9. He also had successful abdominal surgery last September. Following his knee surgery, Kane said he hoped to play before the start of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Kane began practicing with the team following the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. The 33-year-old would be a valuable addition to Edmonton's postseason campaign, but it remains uncertain whether Kane will be ready to play when the action starts.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane (knee) has resumed skating. The forward will still need several weeks of ramping up before he would be in contention to return to action. The 33-year-old has not played in a game since the Stanley Cup Final in June. Kane underwent several surgeries to repair two hernias and two torn lower abdominal muscles in September, in addition to knee surgery in January. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his status. If he can continue at this steady pace, he may be able to return before the postseason. Last season across 77 contests, Kane found the back of the net 24 times and added 20 helpers with the Oilers. He logged 250 hits and 29 blocked shots. When he does return to action, he could play in the top six and have value in deeper formats.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
