We have an eight-game slate to break down giving us plenty of options to look at tonight. There are a ton of high-priced skaters you want to be rostering tonight and plenty of games with high over-unders, so could be in for a slate with inflated scores.
Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 12/13/18. DFS Forwards to Consider
Patrik Laine - W, WPG vs EDM (FD - $8,300, DK - $7,400)
Laine has three points in his last two games, but hasn't recorded a goal in seven games, so why not break that streak tonight? Yes, calling the shot right now, Laine will light the lamp tonight and makes a great play in any format. He is very expensive across the industry, but if you are looking for a player who has a high floor and a high ceiling, then he is your guy. Laine is taking about four shots per game and seeing time on the first power-play unit. The ideal fantasy option and if you can stack up the first power-play, you are looking at massive scoring.
Nazem Kadri - C, TOR @ TB (FD - $5,400, DK - $3,900)
Kadri is oddly cheap on DraftKings tonight, so you should be looking to roster him over there tonight. He is down on the third forward line for the Maple Leafs, which isn't great, but he is on the first power-play unit with Matthews and Tavares, which is great. So you are taking a bunch of savings in order to get exposure to the power-play, who have plenty of upside. I will say I like him a bit more on DraftKings since you can just drop him into the utility spot and not take up a center slot.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Matt Dumba - D, MIN vs FLA (FD - $5,800, DK - $5,500)
For some reason, I truly like rostering Matt Dumba in NHL DFS since he is just so consistent and never really breaks the bank. He is averaging over three shots per game and one blocked shot per game, giving you a very safe floor of points you are looking for in cash games. He also is up on the first power-play unit, which can allow him to grab a point on the offensive end, providing a nice ceiling of points.
Ryan Ellis - D, NSH vs VAN (FD - $4,800, DK - $5,200)
Ellis is another player who is great for cash games since he is cheap and brings consistent production each and every game. He is averaging two shots and two blocked shots per game, a level of production you normally don't find out of the same players in the NHL. The Predators come in as -215 home favorites tonight, so the goals should be flowing for them and with Ellis on the top power-play unit he has a chance to fall into a point.
DFS Goalies to Consider
Carter Hutton - G, BUF vs ARI (FD - $8,300, DK - $8,200)
Hutton should be back in net tonight for the Sabres after missing a few games due to an injury. They come in as -145 home favorites against the Coyotes, with an over-under set at 5.5 goals, making him a viable cash game option tonight. He won three of his last five starts before the injury and had over 31 saves in three of those same five games. Solid price across the industry and good to add to a Buffalo skaters stack.
