Ryan Griffin Leads Texans In Receiving Yards
Ryan Griffin posted a surprising five-catch, 80-yard line in Houston's Week 14 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. It was Griffin's highest yardage total of the season and second-highest reception mark, and while it had looked for awhile like rookie tight ends Jordan Akins and Jordan Thomas were surpassing Griffin in the team's pecking order, he finished with more yards than both combined and just one fewer target. Still, fantasy owners shouldn't start counting on Griffin to be a streamable tight end option during the fantasy playoffs.

Jets Release Ryan Griffin
Ryan Griffin was released on Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. In 2021, he appeared in 14 games (12 starts), catching 27 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns. The former sixth-round pick has spent nine years in the NFL between the Texans and Jets. However, his stint with New York has come to an end after they added C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin in free agency. Griffin should have no trouble finding a depth role elsewhere, but he's not fantasy relevant at this time.

Ryan Griffin Re-Signs With Bucs
Ryan Griffin, according to ESPN's Field Yates. Obviously, he'll occupy a depth role behind Tom Brady once again. Between two years with the Saints and seven with the Buccaneers, Griffin has attempted just four passes — all of which came in one game (Week 9, 2019, against the Colts). Currently 32 years old, he'll compete with second-year quarterback Kyle Trask for the honor of being named Brady's backup this coming season.

Ryan Griffin Placed On Injured Reserve
Ryan Griffin (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday. He will miss the season's final three games after sustaining a knee injury in the Week 15 loss to the Miami Dolphins. QB Mike White was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list in a corresponding move. The 31-year-old finishes the 2021 season with 27 catches for 261 yards and two touchdowns over 14 games in 2021. Tyler Kroft will serve as the Jets' primary tight end, but is mainly an option in deep-league formats. Fantasy managers can search elsewhere for a streamer in Week 16 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Not Looking Good For Ryan Griffin In Week 16
Ryan Griffin (knee) is dealing with a knee injury and isn't looking good for Week 16 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Griffin played a season-low 39% of the offensive snaps while getting injured in the Week 15 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and he finished the game with only two catches for 39 yards. Tyler Kroft, who also caught both of his targets on Sunday for 35 yards, figures to serve as the Jets top pass-catching tight end if Griffin cannot play this weekend. Kroft returned in Week 15 after a five-week absence due to a chest injury that he suffered in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts. There are more targets available in the passing game with receivers Elijah Moore and Corey Davis on Injured Reserve, but fantasy managers should be able to do better than Kroft in deep two-TE leagues.
