6 years agoAtlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley was a big part of the game plan for the Falcons against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday. Ridley saw 13 targets, pulling in eight of them for 93 yards and a touchdown. The highlight was a 50 yard catch in which Ridley nearly took the ball right to the end zone. He then finished that drive with a comfortable catch in the back of the end zone for one of the Falcons two touchdowns. The only real mistake was a silly fumble inside the five yard line in the fourth quarter. Ridley had got open on a fourth down play and was working across the field looking for a gap into the end zone. However, Marshon Lattimore forced the ball loose, essentially ending any hopes the Falcons had of winning the game It is promising to see the commitment the Falcons made to Ridley in this game and hopefully that will continue down the stretch of the season. However, if the Falcons had a functioning run game then Ridley would likely have seen half these targets, making repeating this regularly an unlikely thing.--Ben Rolfe
