Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen allowed two goals on 33 shots in Monday's 3-1 home setback against the Calgary Flames. Andersen was pitching a shutout until the third period when Sean Monahan struck on the power play at 5:39, and then Elias Lindholm dinged him 55 seconds later for a 2-0 lead. Nazem Kadri sliced the lead in half on the power play, but that's all the support the Leafs could muster for their tendy. He'll hope for better offensive assistance Thursday against the Dallas Stars, but remember, the team is without stud center Auston Matthews (shoulder) for at least four weeks.--Daniel Dobish

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen (undisclosed) has signed a one-year, $2.75 million extension. The 35-year-old was heading toward unrestricted free agency but has decided to remain with the Hurricanes for a fifth consecutive season. In recent years, Andersen has seen limited action due to health issues. Nevertheless, he has proven to be highly reliable for Carolina when healthy, recording a 13-8-1 record this season. Andersen finished the campaign with a 2.50 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage, recording one shutout. He suffered a new injury in the first-round series against the New Jersey Devils but is expected to return for the start of Round 2 against the Washington Capitals.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen (undisclosed) is expected to return to practice on Friday. The Danish veteran was injured in Game 4 against the New Jersey Devils and was unavailable when Carolina closed out the first-round series with a 5-4 double-overtime win on Tuesday. However, with him set to practice again, there is a strong chance Andersen will be ready for the start of Round 2 against the Washington Capitals. He finished the opening round with a 3-1 record and posted an impressive 1.59 goals-against average with a .936 save percentage. Andersen boasts a strong 10-4-3 career record against the Capitals.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen (undisclosed) will miss Tuesday's Game 5 against the New Jersey Devils. He has been labeled as day-to-day after Andersen exited Game 4 with an undisclosed injury. The Hurricanes lose a hot goalie for Tuesday's tilt, as Andersen had posted a 3-1 record in the playoffs with a 1.59 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage. The team will use Pyotr Kochetkov instead of him between the sticks. Kochetkov enjoyed a solid regular season with a 27-16-3 record but has allowed three or more goals in seven consecutive starts.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen exited Sunday's Game 4 against the New Jersey Devils with an apparent injury. Pyotr Kochetkov replaced Andersen in the crease during the second period after he was involved in a collision with Devils forward Timo Meier. Andersen saved six of seven shots before exiting. The Hurricanes No. 1 has been in superb form during the postseason, as he entered Sunday's contest with a 1.48 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage. Losing him for an extended stretch would be a blow for the Hurricanes, although Kochetkov has proven himself as a capable performer, posting a 27-16-3 record during the regular season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
