Nick Vannett Has Touchdown Called Back
Nick Vannett only finished with one catch in the team's win over the Lions, but he was close to tacking on a touchdown. Vannett caught a beautiful fourth-down pass from quarterback Russell Wilson, but it was called back due to illegal touching by Vannett. Vannett's been the team's only real option at tight end until this week, and Ed Dickson's return could spell the end of Vannett's scoring chances. Dickson is a much more respected offensive threat, so Vannett could find himself relegated to the blocking duty he's known for.

Nick Vannett Signs With Chargers Active Roster
Nick Vannett to their active roster on Wednesday. Vannett had been on the team's practice squad since the end of August but is now in line to make his first appearance for the Chargers in Week 9. Vannett will provide some depth at the position with Gerald Everett (hip) dealing with a hip injury that held him out of Week 8. Vannett has been in the NFL since being a third-round pick in 2016 and has accumulated 90 catches for 874 yards and six touchdowns over his career.

Texans Sign Nick Vannett
Nick Vannett to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday. Vannett continues to bounce around the league and will now join his sixth organization in eight NFL seasons. Last year in nine games (three starts) for the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants, he caught six of nine targets for 55 yards and no touchdowns. The 30-year-old will remain off the fantasy radar and is mostly known as a blocking tight end. In his seven NFL seasons, Vannett has 90 receptions for 874 yards and six touchdowns in 86 games (38 starts). He'll serve as depth in Houston at the tight end position behind Dalton Schultz, Teagan Quitoriano, Brevin Jordan and Eric Tomlinson.

Nick Vannett Might Be Expendable
Nick Vannett is a trade/cut candidate with training camp nearing an end, according to league sources. Vannett averaged over 30 snaps per game last year in New Orleans, but he's now part of a position battle with Adam Trautman, Taysom Hill, Juwan Johnson, J.P. Holtz and Lucas Krull. The majority of his preseason work has come in the second and third quarters, with Holtz the only other tight end to see work late in a preseason game. But if rookie Trevor Penning starts at left tackle in 2022, the Saints may want an experienced blocking tight end like Vannett around. The 29-year-old caught nine of 15 targets for 133 yards and one touchdown in just seven games in 2021, and he's well off the fantasy radar.

Nick Vannett - Week 16 Outlook for Fantasy Football
Nick Vannett is not a viable tight end option in Week 16 against the Dolphins. Vannett posted a couple of decent games in the last few weeks but he surely hasn't been consistent. The TE has posted 44 yards or more in two of the past four games. He also posted 11 combined yards in the other two games in that stretch. While the Dolphins are average against fantasy tight ends, the fact that the Saints plan to start a rookie QB on Monday makes Vannett an unworthy fantasy option.
